What is Dao Yin An Qiao

Dao Yin An Qiao is one of the five methods of ancient Chinese medicine, and it is recorded in the twelfth chapter of Yi Fa Fang Yi Lun in “The Yellow Emperor’s Neijing Su Wen”.

In the chapter of Appropriateness of Different Methods are details of the five regions of the east, south, west, north and central, natural climate differences, people’s living habits, disease characteristics, and the origin of treatment methods. Among them: “In the center, the ground is flat and wet, and the heaven and the earth produce all myriad things. The people eat miscellaneous food and do not work, so their diseases are often atrophy, cold and heat, and their treatment should be guided by Dao Yin An Qiao. Therefore, Dao Yin An Qiao is also from the center.” This is the classical discussion about Dao Yin An Qiao.

The records of The Yellow Emperor’s Neijing engraved Dao Yin An Qiao in the annals of traditional Chinese medicine. However, due to the limitation of historical inheritance, there are very few doctors who truly understand and treat people with the method of Dao Yin An Qiao.

For thousands of years, with the change of dynasties, its inheritance has been on the verge of being lost in modern times.

This inheritance has always been passed down to the people through perseverance like a grass, sticking to the ancient method, and secretly passed on to the people by way of family inheritance, mentoring , apprenticeship, and oral transmission.

Dao Yin is the traditional Chinese character for leading and guiding. Qiao (qiāo) is a special word in traditional Chinese medicine, such as the Yin Qiao and Yang Qiao channels in the eight extra channels, which here refer to the meridians and acupoints.

To put it simply, Dao Yin An Qiao means that the doctor gently taps the acupoints on the meridian required by the patient with his finger to do “guiding”, and dredge the meridians through guiding the inner energy(Qi) . Its core is “Guiding the meridians, ordering the passage, and training energy (Qi) to make peace”.

That is to direct the patient’s meridians to make them unobstructed, so that the body’s self-regulating system can be restored. Guide the patient’s qi and blood to be more peaceful, to induce qi and blood to calm yin and yang , so that the symptoms of atrophy, cold limbs, cold and heat can be eliminated. Therefore, make people yin and yang at peace, so as to be healthy and long lived.

Since  Dao Yin An Qiao comes from the center, and it uses the energy(Qi) in the human body to guide. There is no bias and it is safe and green. It is a good way to promote the optimization of the human body and mind, for health and longevity.

The historical legacy of Dao Yin An Qiao

Dao Yin An Qiao has flowed into the folk world according to the rules. It is esoteric orally taught. In 1711 during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, over 300 years ago, it is said that Emperor Qianlong visited Jiangnan privately three times. He fell ill and couldn’t heal after taking medicine. He temporarily stayed in a hotel then encountered a person named Xiaoxiu, who could do Dao Yin An Qiao. In fifteen minutes, she cured the royal disease without needles and medicine.

Doctor Fu Qinzeng, lived from 1939 to 2014, he learned the  as a family heirloom, taught by the people. His ancestors secretly passed it down to the eldest son and eldest grandson for five generations. There were family rules that are passed only  to men and not to women, and kept secret.  Dao Yin An Qiao had been passed on to Doctor Fu Qinzeng and he became a famous doctor among the people. Later, after he met Minister Cui Yueli, Dr. Fu treated the older generation of state leaders.  He also represented the state to treat several foreign leaders and their families, becoming a modern imperial doctor.
